How to add custom fonts to Instagram Stories
For more font options in Instagram Stories, create your text in Gooditor and paste the transparent text image onto your photo. This method does not change Instagram’s built-in font menu.
Before you start
Open Gooditor on your iPhone and choose a photo for your Story. Edit the text in Gooditor; once pasted into Instagram, you can move and resize the image.
Add your text to Instagram in three steps
Type your text and choose a font
Type a headline or caption and choose a built-in font. To use your own font, import the file first, then apply it in the editor. Bold fonts suit short headlines; for longer captions, prioritize readability.
Style and copy your text image
Adjust the size, letter spacing, line spacing and color, or start with a template. For busy photos, try an outline or background. Check for missing characters and unwanted line breaks, then copy from the app.
Switch to Instagram and paste onto your Story
Create an Instagram Story and choose your photo. Paste the text image you just copied, then move or resize it. Instagram’s interface changes between versions, so use the paste option available on your phone.
Can I edit the text after pasting?
You are pasting a transparent image, not an Instagram text box. To change the words, font or line spacing, return to Gooditor, edit and copy again. The photo background is not included when you copy your text.
If pasting does not work, check these three things
- Copy again in Gooditor in case another item has replaced your clipboard.
- Make sure you are editing a Story, not typing a post caption or profile bio.
- If the app shows a copy limit or Pro prompt, follow the on-screen instructions and check that copying completed.
